| Project Objective | The main objective of the project was to develop a strategy for privatisation and management of state-owned agricultural land in Kazakhstan, with the overall aim to establish a functioning rural land market and to support the development of sustainable economic structures in the agricultural sector. |
| Services provided |
- Initiation of a public awareness campaign (editing an information brochure about the land code in cooperation with OSCE: „The new land code – what you should know“);
- Development of procedures for selling and leasing agricultural land;
- Development of instruments for valuing agricultural land in order to determine lease and sales prices;
- Determination of preconditions for using land as collateral;
- Supporting the development of the land cadastre;
- Organisation of seminars, trainings and study tours for national experts and target groups on land valuation, mortgage markets, administration of state-owned property;
- Improvement of the organisational structure of institutions related to the rural land market;
- Analysis of current legal difficulties with respect to the development of a rural land market;
- Review of laws, provisions, law drafts and by-laws on valuation and taxation.
